We all want to be happy.
We have been misled to believe that things are linked to happiness.
Things cannot make you happy. It’s an illusion.
« The art of being happy lies in the power of extracting happiness from common things. »
– Henry Ward Beecher
Happiness is a choice. The simple choice of choosing to be happy.
Nothing outside of you can make you really happy.
You are the only one that has the power over your happiness.
Know what you like to do.
Keep on getting better at doing it.
Find a way to earn a living doing it. And enjoy a wonderful life.
Passion in doing what you like to do will help you become the best at it. When you become the best, you start to earn a very good living doing it.
“Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion.”
– Martha Graham
Technique don’t hurt to become great, but if you don’t have the passion, you can never become one of the great.
It’s not what you do that makes you great, it’s how you do it.
“You deserve a great life. I want to see you become unreasonably happy. And you can. And you will.”
– Hill Harper
Focus most of your energy with the good people in your life.
How do you know who’s the good ones?
- Can you count on them?
- Do you like being around them?
- Are they good influence? (positive influence on your life)
If you answered ‘no’ to any of those, then maybe you should reconsider that friendship.
“One true friend adds more to our happiness than a thousand enemies add to our unhappiness.”
– Marie Dubsky
Are you a good friend?
Answer that question and you’ll find out if you are a good one.
Remember, what you send out always comes back to you.
“The most I can do for my friend is simply be his friend.”
– Henry David Thoreau
Find something that you like in your job.
The more things you like with your job, the more you’ll like your job. This may seems complicated, but if you can find something to like with you job, your job will be a lot easier.
“Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.”
– Albert Schweitzer
So, if you want to be successful in your job, you need to like something about what you do.
Too many people want to do only what they like. They focus on one or two things and just want to do that. It’s an impossible dream.
Yes you could end up doing something you really like, but there’s always a little something in it that you don’t. If you can find the will to do what you don’t like, it will become a drive into becoming the best in that fields.
Do you feel the need to be right in a conversation?
Most people do feel that need.
Why do we need to be right when we talk with others?
We don’t listen to learn and understand. We only wait for our moment to reply.
“Listen with the intent to understand, not the intent to reply.”
– Stephen Covey
When you choose to be right, you choose your ego instead of building your relation with that person.
“You can be right or you can be happy.”
– Gerald Jampolsky
Before you do your best to be right, think a little more about that bad habit. Are you sure that what you’ll say will help in anyway. If so, find a way to say it without attacking and hurting.
Whatever someone else have, you can have it too. And without taking it from them.
“You can be the moon and still be jealous of the stars.”
– Gary Allan
Don’t envy! Be happy for what others have. Knowing you can have it too.
Joy to the successful people. Successful people will celebrate the success of others. When you are into the flow of energy associated with success, you understand that it’s available to all. Competition is a product of the unsuccessful people.
If you take from someone else, you’ll end up giving back three times what you take.
Do without expecting a return and your return will be more then you expect.
