What is toxic positivity?
“The overgeneralization of a happy, optimistic state that results in the denial, minimization and invalidation of the authentic human emotional experience.”
Positivity is not about denial. It’s about being strong enough to not let evenement break us. It’s keeping the flame alive against all odds.
“Everything worthwhile in life is won through surmounting the associated negative experience. Any attempt to escape the negative, to avoid it or quash it or silence it, only backfires. The avoidance of suffering is a form of suffering. The avoidance of struggle is a struggle. The denial of failure is a failure. Hiding what is shameful is itself a form of shame.”
– Mark Manson
The people who are using denial are the same thinking they can use any excuses to do whatever they want without taking any responsibility.
When you need to mask your action, you’re not positive, you’re just full of BS.
People who use positivity to justify their bad attitudes are just full of BS.
People who can face their reality without using excuses and keep going on are the real positive people.
You’re not positive in relation with others, you’re positive in relation with yourself and what’s happening to you.
You can’t get anyone to see hope in any situation. If they can’t see it, you can’t change that. You can only listen and hope they’ll find the strength to see a way out.

The apostle Peter wrote, in I Peter 4:12, 13, “Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something was happening to you. But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when His glory is revealed.”
